My Comeback to Running

Yesterday I met with my running ladies and we went for a run together! It was AWESOME! We haven’t been running together for almost a year! I didn’t run during my pregnancy and honestly, didn’t miss it too much. I think I was a little burned out and that break was great! I feel good and excited about running and working out again!

So yesterday my friends came over and we ran at my favorite trail right around the corner from my house. I did 4 miles and felt good the whole way. I’m not fast nor can I go super far, but I feel good and have fun!


It was a great day! The weather was just perfect, low 60s and sunny. The trail looked beautiful and we even saw some pretty flowers!

wpid-img_43620862699761.jpegAfter the run we went back to my house, where my husband made Eggs Benedict for us. We chit chatted and hang out and my little girl joined us. She is already part of Team Awesome :)

It was a perfect come back to running and I’m so thankful that I already feel so good – 7 weeks postpartum. I had a very speedy delivery and I believe this helped me to recover faster as well. 3 weeks postpartum I started walking and 2 weeks later I incorporated some running. Last week we joined the gym and I was able to run 2 miles. Yesterday I ran 4 miles for the first time since Zoe was born and I felt great!

My goal is to run a half marathon in the fall, but training doesn’t really start until July. So for May and June I want to have fun with my work outs, try new classes at the gym and work on toning and strengthening my overall body. My goal is to work out 5x a week for at least 30 min. Workouts can be a class at the gym, running or just a walk with the stroller. I’m excited and look forward to get moving again. Last week I did a kick booty class (kick boxing for women). It was awesome, I was sore for days!

My plan for the upcoming week:

Monday: 30 min run + 30 min Zumba toning class
Tuesday: 3 mile walk with stroller
Wednesday: 3 mile run/walk with stroller
Thursday: kick booty class
Friday: run on the treadmill
Saturday and Sunday: off – mother’s day celebration

I’m enjoying being a stay at home mom and Zoe and I are on the go all the time. We have so much fun!

    4 miles only 7 weeks after baby is definitely something to be proud of!

    Looks and sounds like a beautiful run! Yay for coming back to running! I agree, sometimes having an extended break from running helps get you totally refreshed and ready to run. My plan this week is to ease it up and be ready to run fast this Saturday then another hard week of training. My goal is to nab a 5k pr and base my marathon training from that starting in June :)
